Program Description​

The Independent Living Services is a state and federal funded program that helps people with disabilities achieve greater independence in the home and community by providing assistance to obtain or maintain the following adaptive aides:

Independent Living Purchasing Program Manager

Education: Ysleta High School Graduate, Attended Our Lady of the Lake University (two years), National Statler Center Customer Service Certification

Experience: Over 20 years assisting people with disabilities, USCIS Customer Service Agent, Sub-Contracted with Texas Work Force Customer Service, Sub-Contract, Glazers Wholesale Sales Consultant

Interests: Immediate Past President of the El Paso Council of the Blind, President of the Paso Del Norte Light House Coalition, Disabilities Advocate.

Disability: Visually Impaired

Michelle Martinez, Independent Living Services Coordinator

Michelle Martinez

Coordinator

Education: Riverside High School Graduate

Experience: Started as a Volunteer at Volar CIL, then subsequently hired on as a receptionist and moved on as an assistant to Coordinator Miguel Palomar, where she has exceled and now has become a seasoned Coordinator in her own right.

Interests: Reading and watching Baseball

Favorite Quote: You can always be a fan of your favorite team but a true fan loves Baseball first. Play Ball!

Rosio Hernandez Independent Living Services Assistant Coordinator​

Rosio Hernandez

Assistant Coordinator

Education: International Buisiness College, Graduate in Computerized Information Specialist

Experience: Has over 10 years. In an office management and customer service setting. Rosio is one of our front-line personnel for our ILPS Program.

Interests: Spending time with her kids, family and friends.
